Holiday dress shopping

As women, we’re often the ones responsible for creating the holiday magic—buying and wrapping gifts, planning parties, organizing meals, and hosting our families and in-laws. And on top of all that, we’re expected to look fabulous while doing it and dazzle at every holiday party! Phew, I need a drink just thinking about it!

The great news for you is that I have been a stylist and personal shopper for over twenty years, and now that I am back to blogging, I am here to help!

5 things to remember when shopping for a holiday frock.

  1. Step outside your comfort zone. Holiday looks are all about experimenting! If you spot something and think, “That’s not usually me, but I love it,” give it a try!

  2. Sparkle is encouraged. Sequins, shimmer, feathers, and tulle are perfect for the season—just maybe not all in one outfit. Embrace the glam!

  3. Shop early for tailoring. Don’t wait until the last minute or for the invite to arrive. Shop now, have your outfit tailored if needed, and be ready when the invitations start flooding your inbox or mailbox.

  4. Swap out your usual handbag. Every woman should have at least one evening bag (or seven!). A mismatched handbag can ruin a look, so choose an elegant option that complements your outfit.

  5. Choose your shoes wisely. Shoes can make or break an outfit. They should look fabulous but also be comfortable enough to keep you dancing all night. And a side note: after 18, no taking shoes off at an event!

Let’s start this holiday shopping season with everyone’s favorite,

The Little Black Dress.

The bubble dress trend is back, featuring a playful silhouette that flatters various body types. Its voluminous shape and gathered fabric create drama, perfect for a holiday night out.

A cool-girl dress with relaxed vibes that’s perfect for the holiday season. The sleek black satin pairs beautifully with fun heels and a few chic accessories. And here’s a little bonus: it even has an elastic waist for extra comfort! Not a fan of the midi length? No problem—just call your tailor to bring up the hem!

They say the devil is in the details, and that couldn’t be truer for this style. Padded shoulders, an exposed zipper, and a statement belt come together to create a bold, chic look for the holidays.

A daring hemline, peek-a-boo cleavage, and a touch of subtle sparkle come together for the perfect holiday look..

Showing a little shoulder adds an unexpected touch of allure—after all, everyone has sexy shoulders! The classic black satin gracefully skims your body and twists elegantly around your neck.

This stretch jersey long-sleeve mini dress features perfectly placed slashes for a peek of skin in all the right spots. If it shows a bit too much thigh for your event, just throw on a pair of fun patterned tights and you’re good to go!

If you’re one of the lucky ones with a formal holiday event, this dress is perfect for the occasion. With a one-shoulder design, cinched waist, a touch of sparkle, and just the right amount of skin, it’s made to turn heads.
